Über Stichting Kumbatio Nederland

Stichting Kumbatio is a licensed non-governmental organization based in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. Stichting Kumbatio was founded in October 2010 by Yvette Boltze after her visit to Kenya in 2009, during which she volunteered in a children’s home. The initial prompt for the establishment of the NGO was, therefore, the dire family situations that Yvette perceived during her time in Kenya and the lack of support available for the affected children.  Stichting Kumbatio was thus, established with the vision that every child in the world has the right to grow up in a loving and supportive home, whether with their parents, or other family members, or in a temporary home where their interests always come first, which enables the child to achieve a positive future.

To achieve its vision, Kumbatio offers children in Thika, Kenya a solid foundation and environment, by offering them a safe home, allowing them to enroll in education, giving them the attention and care they need, helping them process their traumas such as physical and/or mental abuse, and helping them reintegrate back into their family. The main SDG focus areas of Kumbatio are, therefore, SDG 1 "No Poverty", SDG 2 "Zero Hunger", SDG 3 “Good Health and Well-being”, and SDG 4 "Quality education".  Furthermore, the values of Kumbatio include safety, trust, responsibility, self-reliance, respect, honesty, helpfulness, curiosity, and transparency. These not only reflect the sensitive nature of the societal issue which the NGO addresses, but also express the value proposition of Kumbatio towards the children it supports.
