Every day millions of children in India are involved in child labour and child trafficking. More than half of them are in severely dangerous conditions. Worldwide about 168 million children are involved in child labour. Child labour occurs the most in Asia. Poverty is often seen as the most important cause of child labour, but child labour actually sustains this poverty.
After the children are rescued by BBA, they are temporarily taken care of in a house (Mukti Ashram) where they are given medical and psychological care. The children who are not able to go home yet can stay for a year or more in a shelter (Bal Ashram) provided by BBA. From Bal Ashram these children will attend school and work on their future.
Children have a right to education, protection, play and live as a child. Together with BBA we will fight for these children’s rights and challenge the different forms of child labour and child trafficking. The goal is to fight all forms and to support the victims after they have been rescued. At the beginning of 2019 there were already more than 88,000 rescued children.
